Short version
Candidate Clipper collects nothing, sends nothing and stores nothing outside your browser. The extension makes no network requests of any kind — there is no server for your data to go to, and no analytics of any sort.
What the extension stores
When you clip a profile, the extension saves the following in your browser's local
extension storage (chrome.storage.local):
- the profile fields read from the page you opened: name, headline, company, location;
- the profile URL;
- the note and tag you type yourself;
- the dates the record was created and last updated;
- your settings: interface language, header-row toggle, last used tag.
This data stays on the device it was created on. It is not synced, backed up or transmitted anywhere by the extension.
What the extension does not do
- No network requests — not to our servers, not to LinkedIn's API, not to anyone else.
- No analytics, telemetry, crash reporting or remote configuration.
- No accounts, sign-in or identifiers of any kind.
- No advertising, no sale or sharing of data with third parties.
- No reading of pages in the background — only the page you explicitly act on.
Permissions and why they exist
- activeTab — grants temporary access to the tab you are on, and only at the moment you click the extension icon or press its shortcut. This is what lets the extension read the profile in front of you without standing permission over linkedin.com.
- scripting — used to run the reader script inside that tab, once, on your action.
- storage — keeps your list and settings in the browser between sessions.
- commands — provides the keyboard shortcut for clipping without opening the popup.
The extension deliberately does not request host permissions for linkedin.com, which would let it read those pages at any time.
Deleting your data
Use “Clear list” on the extension's list page to delete every saved record, or remove individual rows. Uninstalling the extension removes its local storage along with it. Since we never receive your data, there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf.
Children
The extension is a professional tool and is not directed at children under 13. It collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a new date. Material changes will also be noted in the extension's release notes.
